The Night of “San Juan” as we all celebrate it, takes place the day before this, on the 23rd June. Beaches and cities are full of people, fireworks, lanterns, parades and music. It’s a spectacular end to which is the longest day of the year.
It’s so special that it invades you with a magical feeling that makes you believe anything is possible and you’re able to get everything you set your mind in if you try it hard. It’s one of those moments when you load batteries for the whole year. San Juan’s Day coincides with the summer solstice, so it is the longest day of the year… and of course, the sorttest night, but perhaps because of that, it’s also the best.
In fact, it is not only the best, but it’s also said it can scare the “bad vibes”! How? To get rid of “evil spirits” you have to jump a bonfire 9 times. From here, all that remains of the year, will be protected against evil. But when things go well you’ll have to remember this day and thank San Juan (they say so)…
And what if you make a wish?
It is tradition to make wishes on the night of San Juan. Just do this: Take two papers. In one, write all the good thinks that you thank and want to happen; and on the other one, write everything you don’t like and want to take out of your life. When it’s 00:00, throw the good paper to the sea and and burn the bad on the fire. Only those who believe in magic get to find it. If you’re someone who’s lived magical moments, moments of pure happiness, moments you know they’re worth living and founding them again, then this is your place.
This is your night.
